Review: Deadpool # 7

Issue # 7 of Brian Posehn and Gerry Duggan’s Deadpool is a trowback to yesteryear with the classic “Inventory Issue”.

Back in the old days of the comics industry when an emergency blew up the publishing schedule and it was clear the intended book would not be ready, Marvel would run what they call an “Inventory Issue”.  This was a special issue that was written, drawn, then filed away, ready to print at a moment’s notice.  Marvel doesn’t really do inventory issues anymore but Posehn and Duggan found one starring Deadpool from the late 70’s/early 80’s.

What’s great about this issue is that even though it was completely written, drawn, colored, and lettered back in yesteryear, the reader hardly even notices!

Deadpool, Peter Parker, and Flash Thompson are all written totally in character.  It’s nice to see that although things at Marvel may change, they are really just the same.

Posehn and Duggan promise that issue 8 will see the return of S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Preston, and Deadpool getting in touch with his feminine side…
