DC Comics will expand its digital-first comics line this summer with the debut of Batman ’66, a series based on the classic television series.
The Batman television series aired from 1966 to 1968 on ABC, “Batman’66” is written by Jeff Parker with art by Johathan Case.
The first issue will feature a cover drawn by Michael Allred; who is currently working on the Marvel series “FF” with writer Matt Fraction.
DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson stated:
“The juxtaposition of offering a retro Batman ’66 comic as a current and modern digital first title is fun.”
A disagreement between Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox had long prevented the release of any products based on the Batman Television series, including DVD collections, now that the two companies have settled their issues Batman fans everywhere can once again enjoy the 60’s Adam West Batman.
Batman’66 is available this June from DC Comics.
