The fifth issue of Fantastic Four by Matt Fraction and Mark Bagley begins with a children’s play, and turns into something far more sinister.

Time Travel seems to be a central theme to the titles under the Marvel Now! banner; this week it’s the Fantastic Four that travels into the past.  To celebrate the month of March, the first family takes a trip to ancient Rome to meet Cesar himself.

This comic focuses on the Thing, Human Torch, Franklin and Valerea while Reed Richards and Sue Storm take some ” Mommy-Daddy Time”.

Fraction’s characterization of the Four is spot on!  His Reed Richards is smart but shady, Sue Storm is a strong parent, Johnny Storm is arrogant and immature, and Ben Grimm is lovable.  Mark Bagley’s artwork is some of his best lately, far cleaner than his work on Avengers: Assemble.  For those who have been enjoying this series the newest issue does not disappoint.
